This UNICEF Project is based on the website: Voices of Youth. Step 1: Each learner receives a workpage, with the relevant website and the questions to be answered. Step 2: (In the computer lab) Learners read the relevant website and answer the questions. Step 3: Back in class - Learners have to find others who worked on the same topics, and share the information in order to put together a group presentation in English- including both a graphic and an oral presentation. Step 4: Each group presents their findings.
The group presentations are assessed according to the following criteria: • Workpages(25%): Answered all questions fully. • Graphic presentation (25%): Organized clearly and aesthetically • Oral presentation (25%): fluent and grammatically accurate • Group participation (25%): All members of the group were active in the presentation
Objectives of the project By participating in this project, the learners work on benchmarks in all four of the learning domains: • Social Interaction • Access to Information • Presentation • Appreciation of Literature, Culture and Language
Social Interaction • ask and answer questions on a wide range of general topics accurately • interact and respond appropriately in discussions on a wide range of topics Access to Information • use a range of appropriate reference sources • cope with information that has little or no redundancy Presentation • express opinions with supporting facts and arguments • organize thoughts and ideas on a wide range of topics with accurate use of elaborate language structures to match purpose and audience Appreciation of Literature, Culture and Language • gain insight into how social acts and social traditions represent a particular culture • appreciate how different cultural perspectives are reflected in cultural products
