Greater Greensboro Habitat for Humanity Founded in 1987 1700 Affiliates in the US, one of the largest here in GG 320 HH homes built in GG Families spend 30%-50% of monthly income on “rent” HH families provide 300 hours of “sweat equity” in their home This year, habitat homeowners paid nearly $310,000 in 2008 property taxes to Guilford County and the City of Greensboro, and have paid a cumulative total of over $2.5 million in property taxes since 1987.

The Built Environment • Each year the construction, renovation and operation of buildings consume: • 40% of the raw materials • 32% of the total energy produced • 17% of all fresh water use • 25% of the global wood harvest. • This results in tens of millions of tons of greenhouse gases, air / water pollution, and wastes. The construction industry consumes 60% of all non-food and non-fuel raw materials in the U.S.
