Problem Statement • Pre-project exercise was 2-3x/week, for about 30 min. each time, totaling 60-90 min./week, which maintains but does not decrease weight. • Can’t always find time to exercise • Overweight by about 20 lbs. per Body Composition Analysis (10/9/00) • Intensive exercise a few times per week leads to injuries and periods of less exercise overall. • Skipping exercise exacerbates stress.

Results: Moving Average Control Chart • Weekly averages of daily exercise time fall within upper and lower control limits
Adding walking made the greatest difference. Proportion of afternoon time was a surprise (high). Insights
Outcomes • Average daily exercise increased from 3x/week to 5x/week, primarily through addition of walking regimen. • Average minutes per day of exercise increased from 13 min./day to 23 min./day. • Weight decreased by about 10 lbs. In 10 weeks.
