Objective of the course • The course WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO UNDERSTAND issues in labour-management relations that are faced by industrial relations managers and their counterparts that include the formation of trade unions, collective bargaining, grievances, discipline and termination/dismissals in unionized and non-unionized organizations

  3. Learning outcomes • Pelajar dapat; • 1. menghuraikan prosedur berkenaan dengan penubuhan, pendaftaran, pengiktirafan, pentadbiran dan penubuhan kesatuan sekerja (C2, CS) • 2. merangka strategi tawar-menawar bersama yang berkesan (P3,C5)

Learning outcomes (cont) • 3. menilai dan menentukan tindakan yang bersesuaian untuk menangani pertikaian perusahaan dan / atau meminimumkan • potensi berlakunya pertikaian perusahaan (CT) • 4. menghuraikan hak-hak yang diperuntukkan oleh undang-undang • kepada majikan dan pekerja serta dapat juga memberi pandangan yang tepat kepada pihak-pihak yang berkenaan dalam meregulasikan hubungan di antara mereka (C5, EM) • 5 membincang isu semasa mengenai hubungan perusahaan (A3, C4, CS)

  8. Group project • Topic: Employer-employee relation There will be two projects/assignments Assignment 1 = 10% Assignment 2 = 10% Deadline = week 10 ( 27th Nov 13) For presentation, you can choose to present assignment 1 or assignment 2

  9. Assignment 1 • Your task; Identify one court case between employer and employee or trade union • The case must be a real case in a real organization • Your group must describe the issues within the case, the parties involved, decision making process, the result etc

Assignment 2 • Identify a company that is/was listed as the best workplace • For hard copy report: • i) Describe why the company/organization is considered as the best workplace • ii) Explain the employer and employee relationship in the organization • For presentation: The analysis of the best workplace will be presented to a group of HR managers. Within your presentation you must consult and advice these managers on how to manage employer and employee relationship and how to be an employer of the choice,
