Try Out Format Skills – Drills – Competition You will be evaluated on your basketball specific skills, your ability to comprehend, and pick up coaching tips in drills and display that knowledge in competitive situations You will start with your grade level Junior High – 9th grade – 4:00 start time High School 10th – 11th- 12th -2:30 start time End time – High School – 5:30 9th grade – 6:30
Evaluations: Dribbling – time skill Defensive skills Shooting Free Throws (recorded each day) 1 on 1, 3 on 3, 5 on 5 drills and competitions Mile Run – timed and recorded Agility drills Offensive drills Defensive drills Intangibles – attitude, effort, teamwork
Coaches reserve the right to move players between levels Seniors must score out in the top 8 in the program in order to make the team (Senior do not play on Junior Varsity) Players may make a team based more on position/team need than on skills – position specific needs will be used in making team selections First cuts will be made at the end of practice on Tuesday, November 19th. Final cuts/team assignments will be made following practice on Wednesday, November 20th.
Forms and other information • Enrollment forms available in the activities office and in front office at all • junior high schools • If you have participated in a fall sport this year, you need only fill out the • emergency card and pay fees. (no need to fill out entire packet) • Physical – a physical must be on file in the athletic office – in the past 3 years • in order to participate • ALL PAPER WORK AND PHYSICAL MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOU CAN • STEP ON THE COURT FOR TRYOUTS
