  2. Viewing Our Home Children are a blessing. • They should be able to expect parents to provide important things. • Security • Love • Guidance • But it can’t be a one sided relationship. • Parents have rights, too.

  3. Obedience and Respect • Eph. 6:1-3; Luke 2:51 • Mary and Joseph weren’t perfect. • Jesus was. How do you think he behaved in the home? • Did he argue without restraint? • Pout? • Throw tantrums? • I Tim. 5:1-2

  4. Children to Uphold A Good Name • Prov. 22:1 • Reputation is like rolling a rock up a mountain. • Psa. 69:12 – “Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And I am the song of the drunkards.” • Most parents can’t pass on monetary wealth. Our children deserve a “good name”. So do our grandchildren. • I Sam. 3:13; 8:1-3

  5. Chores • Matt. 21:28ff – a reasonable request. • Chores develop a work ethic and an attitude. • Lazy, inept, whine. What kind of reference would your parents give you on a job application? • It’s not just what it makes of you. They deserve your help. They need your help

  6. Right To Have Trustworthy Children • There are no limits to love. There are to trust. • If parents didn’t love you, they wouldn’t care so much. • Eph. 4:25. • Where are you going? What time will you be home? • How do you regain trust that is lost?

  7. Help In Maintaining A Peaceful Home • Prov. 15:17 – “Better is a dish of vegetables where love is than a fattened ox served with hatred.” • “Are we having a good time?” “Do you enjoy this?” • The Lord is no more pleased with trouble in the home than He is with trouble in the church. • “Those who sow discord…” Prov. 6:16-19 • Luke 15:11ff – When should we apologize? • Prov. 10:1
