Court Appointed Special Advocates of Stanislaus County We are governed by a Local Board Of Directors We Are A 501 c 3 Non-Profit Organization Our Mission Statement To provide quality advocacy services for all abused and neglected children in the dependency system through the use of trained volunteers.

Who We Are And How We Began CASA is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocates and provides a voice for abused and neglected children CASA was created in 1977 to make sure the abused and neglected children who suffered at home would not continue to be abused or neglected at the hands of the system CASA of Stanislaus County is a support to the dependent children of the court who move from one temporary home to another; who often have no family to call their own and who are more likely to face homelessness, unemployment and prison as adults CASA of Stanislaus County was established on October 11, 2001 at the request of the Superior Court of Stanislaus County
Who We Are And How We Began CASA of Stanislaus County was established to obtain detailed information about a dependent child and their case and report the information to the court CASA of Stanislaus County was founded to help alleviate the increased case-load on the court and the Stanislaus County Child Welfare system
What We Do CASA of Stanislaus County provides an independent view of the case to the court to help them make the best decision for the child (ren) CASA of Stanislaus County is a collaborative partner and often a significant resource for the Court, the Social Worker and the Attorney assigned to the case
What Is A CASA Advocate? An Advocate is … a voice for a child during the court process a sworn Officer of the Court working towards permanent placement for the children they serve has access to confidential records by court order always represents the best interest of the child a screened, trained, and supervised volunteer a fact finder of each child’s circumstances an active participant advocating services, support and stability - all in the best interest of the child provides an independent report to the court honest, ethical and committed to their child
Must be 21 years of age Pass background check and screening requirements Complete a Personal Interview Provide Three letters of recommendation Complete 36 initial hours CASA training Complete 10 hours of Court Observation Participate with 12 hours of ongoing training annually Make a minimum 18 month commitment Accept supervision by Case Manager Volunteers may not be employed as a foster parent, employee of CASA, Community Services Agency, probation, the County District Attorney or Pubic Defenders Office Advocate Qualifications
