  5. The municipality of Køge • Area 256 km2 • About 57.000 inhabitants • About 9% are immigrants ortheirdescendants (5.200/122 differentcountries) • About 5.300 employeesworking for the municipality

  6. About Køge • Køge became a borough in 1288 - and is with a picturesquedowntown and the largestsquareoutside the capital, one of the bestpreservedcities from the Middle Ages in the country.

The role of the mayor • The mayor is elected from among the towncouncilmembers • Leads political negotiations, including council meetings held every month and the meetings in the economicalcommittee - twice a month • Head of the administration and it is the mayor’sresponsibility to ensurethat administrative standards arerespected • Represents the municipality of Køge and conductsweddingceremonies – about 110 civil marriageceremonieseveryyear
