Design criteria • ZBCAL= 4.3m • ZFCAL(Mask) = ZTPC = 2.3m • EM shower debris should not hit TPC • Tracks passing through FCAL should not go back to TPC • In some options, back-scattered photon can go into TPC. If it turns out not acceptable by simulation studies, make ZFCAL(Mask) smaller. • Radii of beam pipe should be large enough not to be hit by pair background core
Pair background Track density (cm/cm3/BX) Ebeam=250 GeV, B=3T
BCAL hit Energy weighted hit distribution (GeV/mm2) • Nominal 2mrad • Ebeam=250 GeV • 1 BX • 3T
BCAL hit Energy weighted hit distribution (GeV/mm2) • Low Q 2mrad • Ebeam=250 GeV • 1 BX • 3T
BCAL hit Energy weighted hit distribution (GeV/mm2) • High L 20 mrad • Ebeam=250 GeV • 1 BX • 3T

Next step • Study 1 TeV case • Pair background to VTX, IT, FST • Need more statistics (x1000) • Back scattering to VTX, TPC • Full simulation • More statistics (x100) • BCAL performance study • Full simulation • More statistics (x100?)
