Safe Healthy Welcoming Schools • HVAC Project on schedule, look at moving back to Brookside prior to August 20th. Hawthorne will be ready for teachers for their in-service. • Summer food service program continues to be successful.
Increase Opportunity and Achievement • ADSIS Grant- Alternative Delivery Model funded through a grant from MDE. Will allow district to hire five teachers to work with struggling learners. Grant pays for 2/3 salary. • Halverson Pre-School Program- a number of families have been contacted and made aware of the program. Free participation will be funded through literacy aid (calculated based upon the % of 3rd grade students proficient in reading)
Gifted and Talented development programming 2012-13 2011-12 2012-13 Would like to continue all programming and add: Enriched programming for students in grades 6-7 (.20 FTE at SWMS) Add The Future City Competition - a national, project-based learning experience where students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade imagine, design, and build cities of the future. Added opportunities for students to participate in: • Destination Imagination • Chess club • Weekly enriched programming for students in grades 3-5 • (Budget $62,971)
