The Danish National Survey & Cadastre Founded in 1989 Has been under the Ministry for Enviroment since 2001 Employs 300 people in Copehagen Partly funded by the state, partly by users Central authority for surveying, topographic- and hydrographic- mapping, land registration and the authorization of surveyors in Denmark
Arctic Relation • The National Survey & Cadastre has the obligation to produce • Nautical Charts • Topographic maps (open space) • Maintain reference network • The Greenland Government has the obligation to produce • Technical maps over towns and settlements in Greenland
INSPIRE • National Survey & Cadastre is the Danish INSPIRE authority • Law on Geographic Information Infrastructure • Entered into force spring 2009 • The possibility for creating synergy could be improved if we can manage to ”sell the message” about all the INSPIRE-related benefits with mainstream words, examples and pictures
eGovernment • Since 2002, the National Survey and Cadastre has been responsible for Denmark's national geographic infrastructure. • The country is moving towards the implementation of a broad eGovernment strategy in which geodata will serve a central role. • The National Survey and Cadastre promotes Denmark's goals for more efficient public administration.
Example • Correction of Nautical Charts for Greenland • difference between actual (Satellite based) position compared to the charts, more than 1 km • Huge area unsurveyed • Even larger as ice cover diminishes • Poor satellite reception further north • Pseudolites (local, ground-based GPS alternative)
