Prepositional Phrase • A prepositional phrase begins with a preposition, and it ends with a noun. • Nouns are also known as the “object” of the preposition.

Objects of the preposition are ALWAYS nouns! Teddy sleeps on his side. What is the preposition? What is the object/noun? Where? The object is side. Objects of the preposition • The object is always a noun!
Class Discussion • Remember: If the phrase after the preposition contains a noun it is a prepositional phrase! • Tell me whether the following sentences have aprepositional phraseor not. Let’s put our thinking caps on!
