  5. Scholarship Format Beginning in 2013, we’ll grant awards recognizing excellence in the following categories: Community Leadership, Academic Achievement and Exemplary Effort. Each year the BEC desires to distribute at least one scholarship in each category. Each award has been established in honor of former Shepherds of Bethel Baptist Church to acknowledge and commemorate their noteworthy contributions. Levi A. Reid Community Scholarship Thomas W. Connors Sr. Academic Scholarship Bryan J. Pierce Exemplary Effort Scholarship

  6. Scholarship Details * Minimum GPA on a 4.0 scale

Scholarship Details Core Criteria: Graduating High School Senior Member of Bethel Baptist Church a minimum one (1) year Active participant in Bethel’s Youth Ministry Activities (Choir, Usher, Dance, Daughters of Virtue, Sons of Integrity, etc.) Enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning (Student must provide proof of enrollment at a Four-Year or Two-Year College or University, or Trade School for the fall semester following graduation Scholarship applicant who provides all required documentation within designated timeframes. Completed Application Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (1- Ministry Leader, 2 -School Official/ Teacher, 3 - Professional/Employer/Community Organization Leader) Typed 250-300 Word Essay Responding to 1 of 3 Questions Transcript/Report Card 1st 9 weeks of 2013 and 2nd 9 weeks of 2013

Scholarship Awards • Maximum Number of Awards – Six (6). • Maximum Award Amount & Maximum Per Student – $1,000 • If community college, trade or technical school, maximum scholarship amount is $500. • Minimum Award Amount – $ 500. • The maximum number of scholarships in any one category is four. After one scholarship is given in each category, the three remaining scholarships can fall under one or more of the categories. • The committee reserves the right to determine the scholarships to be distributed based on the candidate pool. • The committee is not obligated to distribute all scholarships if qualified candidates do not apply. • NOTE: All awards will be distributed directly to the school following receipt of invoice
