Broadening the Agenda for Scholarship and Research

This initiative aims to broaden the agenda for scholarship and research at USC by promoting a culture of excellence, fostering pervasive innovation, and supporting activities that enhance research capabilities. It addresses the need for universities to adapt to the changing landscape of academia, particularly in the digital age, to ensure fair evaluation and recognition of scholars. The focus is on leveraging technology for information sharing, collaboration, and assessment, while questioning traditional academic practices to expand knowledge and benefit society. Manifestations include redefining academic publishing, library functions, tenure processes, IT infrastructure, physical spaces, and impact measurement.
