NO WIKIPEDIA….. • use the sites listed at the bottom of the Wikipedia page to springboard your research. • I am well aware that Wikipedia is checked for accuracy but I believe it is a lazy man’s way out when it comes to research. • I believe you should have to find information from academic sites. • Wikipedia articles listed their references at the bottom of each article, go to those references for your information.
Footnotes • For ideas that are not your original creation you have to cite your source. • You DON’T have to cite information that is common knowledge, unless you copy the information verbatim (or word for word) • You can do this two ways • Create a footnote – put a superscript number at the end of the sentence then create a footnote at the bottom of the a page listing the author • Parenthetical citation – at the end of the sentence before the period put the author’s name and year of publication (Jones, 2008)
Reread paragraphs…. • make sure you have the correct word. Spell check only works if you have a word spelled wrong, it will not correct your incorrect word use. • AWKWARD – means your sentences is missing something, normally a word or more description.
Science behind event • Describe the science concepts, don’t simply state them. • Discuss how gravity influences motion, how momentum impacts the outcome, etc.
