Fun Facts • Has a brother named Taylor who does snowboarding • Skiis too but started before she started snowboarding(3) • Has 2 horses named Sparky and Bug • She mountain bikes • She jumps on a trampoline • Works out a lot

History of Snowboarding • Snowboarding is a winter sport that involves descending a slope covered with snow, while a person is standing on a board • Jack Burchett built the very first snowboard out of plywood and horse reigns in 1929 • The sport started in 1960 • Sherman invented a snurfer in 1965 –snurfing is the combination of surfing and skiing • 1995-Olympic committee added snowboarding to the games
Description of Snowboarding Events • Half Pipe- • Parallel Giant Slalom- go around obstacles down hill • Snowboard Cross-4 people race to the bottom at the same time, around different obstacles • Slope Style-the goal is to perform the most difficult tricks while getting the highest in the air.
Competing and Event Scoring • You can compete any gender 16-up • o.4 for a unstoppable body, flat landing or missed air • -1.9 for complete falls
Safety Equipment • You need to have a helmet, goggles, snowboard, bindings and boots • Goggles to protect your eyes from snow and sun glare • Bindings to strap your boots to the board
Fun Facts • There are still ski resorts that don’t allow snowboarding • Most people think the snurfer was the first snowboard made, but it was the 2nd one.
