Current service model Commissioned – 2014/15 Keen to explore partnerships between local, regional and national organisations Providers awareness raising and networking event in July 2014. Key points. Plan to begin procurement in late 2014. New contract – 1 April 2015. • Family programmes • Mental and physical health care. • Criminal justice programmes. • Volunteering and training. • Client finding and support • Information and advice. • Structured and unstructured treatment. • Talking therapies and pharmacological. • Shared care • Maintenance and detox • Harm reduction (inc’ needle exchange.) • Service access. • Training and awareness raising. • Social network building, peer support, mutual aid. Local Enterprise Partnership – update • VANS – West of England Civil Society Group • EU funding going through the LEP • Consultation at VSF in September 2013 • You said: We could deliver EU funded social inclusion projects if it was easier! • VANS, with West of England civil society group – liaised with LEP to ensure EU Social Isolation fund (£3.7mil over 6 years) is match funded by Big Lottery • Big Lottery criteria = 80% for VCSE sector

Current Services provided by North Somerset BME Network • Acting as an umbrella organisation for BME groups in North Somerset • New office managed entirely by volunteers. • Over 1,500 visits since September 2013 from people consulting the Network • Central and accessible office in centre of Weston-super-Mare helps reduce isolation • Voluntary work through the Network – Empowers people with confidence and skills • Providing English Classes Tuesday afternoons - Beginners & Intermediate 2:30 to 4:30 pm • Providing Spanish Classes Friday afternoons - 2:00 to 4:00 pm reducing isolation • Focus Group with North Somerset Council and other statutory authorities giving the BME Community a voice. • Providing entertainment and information from the BME Community in January ‘Your North Somerset’ event. • Support for BME local people of more than 55 nationalities since 2006 • Delivering the North Somerset Council Equality and Diversity contract project for the BME Community. • Working in partnership with CAB, AgeUK (Somerset) & Alliance Homes Advice North Somerset project and Transform North Somerset. • Promoting the Wellbeing and Social and learning opportunities for BME Community. • Improving employability by providing Training and Information.
