Mission Statement/Goals MISSION • We, the faculty and staff, believe: • We are a strong force in the life of a child, • Instructional time is valuable, • Meaningful and appropriate instructional tasks are the key to student success, • Positive feedback helps students meet high expectations, • The  teaching of responsibility is important for student success throughout their life, • Training, mentoring and supporting staff members are vital to their success, and • All students can learn. GOALS • The students, parents, faculty, staff and community of George W. Munroe Elementary School, motivated by an unconditional love for children, will work together to create an environment where the highest standards of academic achievement, socially responsible behavior, respect, and diversity are taught, expected, and attained.

  6. Supplies- If you have not sent your child’s school supplies please do not forget to send them this week. It is important that your child have the things that he/she needs to succeed at school. Please put your child’s name on their belongings with a black marker or you can send it to school. • Transportation from School-If there are any changes in your child’s transportation (from school) please inform your child’s teacher or the front office in advance. This is for your child’s safety. • Classroom Visitation- Parents feel free to come out and visit. You are always welcome! We encourage you to come out and see what your child is doing. We love volunteers and our doors are always open! Come out and see all the kindergarten happenings! Classroom Policies -continued

  7. Money- On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school. Always send money in a sealed envelope with the following written on it: • Your child’s first and last name. • The amount of money. • The purpose for the money (lunch, field trip, etc.). • Teacher’s name. • Snacks- Healthy snacks may be sent from home. Please do not send sodas, gum, candy, or chocolate. Students will be allowed to consume these items at the end of the school day. Classroom Policies -continued

  8. The kindergarten teachers will send home special announcements about upcoming field trips and events as they are presented and approved by the principal. Special Projects

Bi-weekly Kindergarten Progress Reports. • Daily reading and math grades. • Conduct grades in kindergarten. • Weekly Imagine It assessments, Kindergarten Readiness Test, and DIBELS. • Note: Kindergarten is an important time in your child’s educational experiences. The test listed above will be used to provide you with information on your child’s academic progress. Grading

  10. Parent Conferences We want to work as a team in the effort of educating your child, so always feel free to contact your child’s Kindergarten teacher or schedule a conference. You may call the school between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday at 875-8800.
