Common Core Algebra 1 This course will focus on algebraic expressions; equations and inequalities; mathematical models; functions; and statistics and probability Math Practice Standards • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them • Reason abstractly and quantitatively • Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others • Model with mathematics • Use appropriate tools strategically • Attend to precision • Look for and make use of structure • Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning

What’s on the class website? • Log in information and links for the textbook, TenMarks, and Google Classroom • Current assignments and assessment dates • Learning Target logs • Home Practice stamp sheets • Link to video examples for each Learning Target • Link to worked-out solutions for odd problems

Learning Target Logs • Describe the concepts and skills that your student is currently learning • Identify the textbook section for each LT • Provide two options for home practice • Practice 1 focuses on procedures • Practice 2 focuses on application of concepts • Provide TenMarks topics for extra practice • Provide a place for students to keep track of levels of understanding for each LT

Home Practice Log • Helps students keep track of how their independent practice is going by recording their practice choice, number of problems they solved correctly and level of understanding • Helps students identify when they need help • Allows the teacher to answer students’ questions one-on-one

Tracking Student Progress Infinite Campus (Parent/Student grade portal) is our online grading program • I encourage students and parents to use Infinite Campus to review grades at least once a week • Grades for quick checks/test are updated weekly and homework is updated at the end of each unit

  9. If your student needs help: • View the example videos and practice odd numbered problems from the textbook. Use the unit learning targets to identify which sections to review. • Practice using TenMarks • Review class notes • Ask questions in class • Ask questions Wednesdays or Fridays from 7:40-8
