Resource Rooms • Located in every Service Center • Job seekers can: • Post a résumé to the Michigan Talent Bank • Search the Internet for job postings • Create and print a professional résumé • Research careers • Use copy and fax machines • View the job board • Staff is available to assist and answer questions
Michigan Talent Bank • Search job postings by key word, employer, or location • Post a résumé to be viewed by employers • Create cover letters • Email résumés directly to employers on the Talent Bank • Create a Job Scout and get automatic email alerts of jobs that match your criteria
Workshops • Workshops are offered at each Service Center and include: • Job Search Strategies • Career Planning • Skills Identification • Career Action Plan • Résumé Development • Interviewing Skills • Check out the calendar at the front desk for more information
Universal Access • Northwest Michigan Works! core services are available to everyone • Specialized staff is available for specific groups of job seekers • Agricultural Employment Specialists (AES) work with Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers • Veteran Service Representatives work with those who have served in the military • Youth Advisors work with both in and out-of-school youth ages 16-21 • Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) for persons with disabilities
Learning Labs • Located in every Service Center • No cost • GED preparation & High School completion • English-as-a-Second Language • Improve reading, writing, math, computer skills, and more • Prepare for postsecondary education
Michigan National Career Readiness Certificate (MI NCRC) • Verifies to employers that you have essential employability skills • Assessment in 3 skill areas: • Applied Mathematics- applying mathematical reasoning to work-related problems • Locating information- using information from such materials as diagrams, floor plans, tables, forms, graphs, and charts • Reading for Information- comprehending work-related reading materials • Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum Certificate • Fee – see staff in Resource Room to sign up
