English Due to the fact that lighter skin complexions are seen as more successful often times the media is a reflection of just those people and not the Latino society as a whole. “If we used the media as a guide we would think that all Latinos were the same: fair skinned, stereotypically hot blooded…catholic and tending to come from a particular region” (Britni). This affects Latino society because judgement is based further then their exterior. Skin color implies a person’s education level income, ideology and their cultural characteristics. Individuals who resemble European Hispanics are thought to have higher education and corresponding political ideals. • Using the media viewpoints as a reflection of Latino society ,“we would think that all Latinos were the same: fair skinned, stereotypically hot blooded…catholic and tending to come from a particular region” (Britni). "I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby's house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited--they went there."
