  1. Gratitude for Grace1 Timothy 1:12 – 17 • Gratitude, an overwhelming sense of goodness directed my way. • Gratitude, seeing and rejoicing in the good that I am blessed to experience. • Gratitude, seeing and acknowledging the blessings of God in my life. • Gratitude and thanksgiving for life, spiritual blessings, personal significance and purpose. • Gratitude for GRACE!

  2. “John Newton, clerk (Pastor), once an Infidel and Libertine, a servant of slavery in Africa, was, by the rich mercy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, preserved, restored, pardoned, and appointed to preach the Faith he had laboured to destroy”.

  3. 1. The Power of Grace1 Tim. 1:12 • Acts 9:1, 2; Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.

  4. BUT • Acts 9:3-6, 3As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” 5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. 6 “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

  5. 1 Cor. 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you” • Rom. 5:20, 21, 20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  6. 2. The Perfection of Grace • 1Tim. 1:15 • 3. The Purpose of Grace • 1Tim. 15,16 • 2 Corinthians 6:8-10, 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

  7. 4. The Praise of God’s Grace.1 Tim. 1:16 • “This is a trustworthy saying that deserves our full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--- of whom I am the worst”. v.15 • “Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound • That saved a wretch like me! • I once was lost, but now am found. • Was blind, but now I see. • Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, • And grace my fears relieved: • How precious did that grace appear • The hour I first believed”

  8. “For that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life” v.16
