Three: Curricular Diversity • Business Information Management (jointly, with The Paul Merage School of Business) • Computer Science- Biomedical Computing was merged here • Students may choose to complete 1 or more of 8 specializations: Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Information, Intelligent Systems, Networked Systems, Systems and Software, Visual Computing • Computer Science & Engineering (jointly, with The Henry Samueli School of Engineering) • Students complete one of 4 tracks: Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Graphics/Vision, Parallel and Distributed Computing • Informatics • Students complete 1 of 2 specializations: Human-Computer Interaction or Organizations and Information Technology • ICS Undeclared (Pre-Major for freshmen only) • Software Engineering
Three: Curricular Diversity • Concentrations (available by application to continuing students only) • Engineering/ICS in the Global Context (study/internship outside of the U.S.) • Bren ICS Minors* • Bioinformatics: contributes to students' competence in computing applied to biomedical problems and data, as well as exposing them to the fundamentals of the life sciences from a computer science perspective. • Digital Information Systems • Health Informatics: prepares students to understand the expanding role of information technology (IT) in health care and to participate in creating IT solutions to health care issues. • Informatics • Information and Computer Science • Statistics • * Some minor requirements may be fulfilled by the Bren ICS student’s major requirements. Some major/minor combinations are restricted.

Five: Committed to Student Success • Introductory programming courses assume no prior knowledge or experience • Paired programming • Lab tutors (FREE) and small group tutoring at LARC (Fee) • First Year Seminar for New Students • Academic counselors and peer advisors • Continuous, from summer orientation to graduation • Inform students about programs/opportunities that enhance learning and build their resumé • Guide students to appropriate campus resources • Associate Dean for Student Affairs • Weekly drop-in hours • Hosts faculty/student mixers
