  6. CICC achievements • Raising the setting up home grant to £2000 • Improving the Leisure Pass application process • Influencing changes to the consent process for foster carers • Made changes to health assessments for LAC aged 14 plus – online questions

  7. CICC achievements • Reviewed Medway’s Pledge to LAC – and made recommendations • Designed a new leaflet about LAC Reviews with the IRO Team • Set up the ‘Big Difference Web site ‘ for Medway’s LAC • Involved in the interviews and selection of Senior Managers in the Directorate

  8. CICC achievements • Had a meeting with local MP’s to discuss issues affecting looked after children in Medway • Have a presence on the South East Regional Children in Care Council Forum held by the Dept for Education

  10. LAC feedback • I have been a member of the Children in Care Council for over 2 years. • It’s great because I have gained confidence and I enjoy knowing that I am helping other people in care.

  11. LAC feedback • The Children in Care Council are rightly proud of their work which has helped many children access educational and leisure information. They are able to describe improvements to services they have lobbied for, such as improving the leaving care grant. • Ofsted Report 2011
