Engaging with the NHS • LAC Directors – leadership for LAC in NHS Boards • Child Health Commissioners – LAC within the wider child health priorities • PHN – delivery of range of services at local level – expertise and learning • LAAC Nurse Forum – frontline practitioners • Office of the Chief Nurse

Progress on CEL16 • Use of self assessment and evidence from audit/inspection • Measurement of service uptake • Programmes of professional training/development • Local action planning • Establishing health needs assessment within agreed timelines • Promoting corporate parenting and implementing GIRFEC principles • Realignment of local leadership • Service restructuring to increase capacity

Barriers: Areas forsupport/development • Notification systems with Local Authorities • More standardisation of assessment approach/format • Data and information on health needs / provision / outcomes for LAC • Understanding of mental health needs of LAC and access to services • NHS engagement in placement decisions • Cross boundary placements • Strategic approach to commissioning services that integrate health, social and educational needs • Young peoples engagement with health services
