  2. Discussion: (talk with your table group) What is a fraction? What is a decimal? What is “percent”? How are fractions, decimals, and percent related? (similar/different)

  3. How do you convert a decimal into a fraction? Explain Example: .32 How do you convert a fraction into a decimal? Explain Example: 17 ----- 100

  4. Percent Converting a fraction into a percent: Try it! Write 76/100 as a percent Think about this… How would you write 3/10 as a percent?

  5. Converting a Percent to a Decimal Steps: Try it: A percent is “part of 100”, so we need to divide the percent by 100 (move the decimal point 2 places to the left), and then remove the % sign Convert to decimal form: 90% 65% 8%

Converting a Decimal to a Percent: Steps: Try it: We need to make the decimal into a percent, which is a part of a hundred, so we will multiply the decimal by 100 (move the decimal point 2 places to the right) and then add a % sign Convert the decimals into percents: .62 3.48 .5 ** Convert 1 into a percent

Write 4% as a fraction and as a decimal Convert 22% into a fraction and simplify Convert 4/5 into a percent Convert 284% into a decimal Convert these into percents: .36 1.25 .4 REVIEW Try these problems to make sure that you have a good understanding of the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percents

Anddrew removed 2 blocks Ashton removed 5/8 of the blocks Emily removed 25% of the blocks What fraction of the blocks did Anddrew remove? How many blocks did Ashton remove? How many blocks did Emily remove? What fraction?
