  2. What is Geography • Geography is the study of the world • Landscapes • People • Human and Physical features • What are physical features? • What are human features?

  3. What landscapes/Landforms can we see?

Region • What is a region? • A region is a part of the World that has one or more common features that makes it unique. • What makes a place unique? • Think of physical and human featuresthat can make a place unique? • In a team of three; think of five unique places and share them with the class.

  6. Maps and Globes • A map is a flat drawing that shows all or part of the Earth’s surface. A globe is spherical, or ball-shaped, model of the entire planet.

  7. Location • Absolute location- is a specific place at the right location. • Relative location- It is a general location of where a place lies it is not exact.

  10. Environment • An areas environment includes; • Land • Water • Climate • Plants • Animals

  11. The branches of Geography • Physical Geography- Landforms, water, climates, soils, and plants. • Human Geography- Study of the world’s people, communities, and landscapes. • Cartography-Making maps • Meteorology-study of weather and what causes it. • Hydrology-study of water on Earth.
