  12. Fourth Grade Examples of Conclusions Poor example: The beach is a nice place to visit. I like the beach. Everyone should go to the beach. Good example: My family and I had such a wonderful time at Pismo Beach. I would recommend a visit to the beach for anyone who loves to swim, surf, build sandcastles, shop on the boardwalk or simply enjoy watching seagulls. I’m already looking forward to our family’s beach vacation next year! 12

  13. Fourth Grade TYPES OF CONCLUSIONS •Restatement of topic sentence/ main idea - As previously stated, my father is the best father in the entire world. We eat breakfast together every morning, he always finds time during his busy day to play a quick game of catch, and he never lets me go to bed without reading to me first. As you can see, my father should be nominated for father of the year. • Question - After learning all of these interesting facts about dogs, can you now see why I find them so fascinating? 13

  14. Fourth Grade TYPES OF CONCLUSIONS •Lesson Learned This experience I endured has taught me a valuable lesson: never go to bed with gum in your mouth! • Quote - In summary, this is why I always try to follow Abraham Lincoln’s advice, “Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today.” 14

  15. Fourth Grade CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH Concluding paragraph #1: Restatement of topic sentence/main idea In conclusion, I think the beach is the best place to visit on a family vacation. Where else can you find such a variety of activities for every member of a family? In the water you can swim, surf or ride jet skis and on the land you can shop, fly kites or ride quads. My entire family had a blast at the beach and we are already looking forward to next year’s vacation. 15

  16. Fourth Grade CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH Concluding paragraph #2: Question I hope after reading this letter you will understand why conserving water is necessary in our community. Water is a valuable natural resource we can not afford to waste. If the people in my neighborhood start to do their part by using their sprinklers only at the designated time, we hope others will learn to do the same. Thank you for your time and attention to this critical conservation issue. Isn’t it worth it if everyone does their part? 16

Fourth Grade CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH Concluding paragraph #3: Lesson Learned To summarize, Molly’s Pilgrim is a heartwarming story where a valuable lesson is learned – it takes all kinds of pilgrims to make a Thanksgiving. I enjoyed reading the story as well as getting to know Molly as the protagonist. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt that they don’t fit in, or knows someone who might ever feel that way. 17
