Appointments and Open Door • Appointments – Can be made with our receptionist in the counseling office. • Open Door Counseling • Available Beginning of 4th hour Lunch from 10:30 to 11:00 • Available at the end of 5th hour lunch from 12:00 to 12:30 *Wednesday lunch open door has different times due to early release schedule

To Do List as a Sophomore • Stay involved in Clubs and Activities • Continue to do community service on a consistent/regular basis • Maintain or improve grades • Utilize Tutoring with teachers by appointment before or after school • Math Tutoring is available at lunch • Check Infinite Campus Grades

  5. Plan Test – Write down this info!!! • What is it? It is a practice ACT test. It is a great opportunity to begin preparation for the test when you take it as a junior. • Who Can take it? Only 10th grade students can take the PLAN test. • Who Should Take it? Students who are interested in attending a 4 year college or university should take this test. • When is it? Thursday, November 13th at 7:30 am (excused from your classes) • Where do I Sign up? In the bookstore beginning October 20th and ends November 6, 2014. • What is the cost of the test? $15 • If you are on free and reduced lunch, please see your counselor for a fee waiver.

  6. Sophomore workshops Sign Up in Counseling • NCAA – This workshop will discuss NCAA requirements for athletes who hope to compete in a Division I/II college, as well as registration on the NCAA Eligibility Center. This workshop will occur during semester 2. • So, you want to go to a selective out of state college – This workshop will address requirements for admission into a selective college or university. Sign up by October 17th

  7. Do You Wonder What Career Is In Your Future? • Interest Inventories are created to help students and adults determine career and job choices • Interest Inventories focus on what you would like to do, not what you may or may not be skilled at doing. • Interest inventories help students determine high school classes to take.

  8. Today we will…. • Create an account on azcis.intocareers.org • Take an Interest Inventory (and save the sort) • Explore careers related to your inventory results • Complete the worksheet entitled “Interest Profiler” -It is on NCR paper and counselors will collect the yellow form at the end of class.

  11. Step three – click on create my education career action plan

  12. Complete all * fields Username: Same as Infinite Campus Student number Password: Same as Infinite Campus (capitalize first initial) Security Question: Answers are Always “Go Hawks"

  14. Remember, you have all the skills in the world. You’re just answering what you would like to do. If you answer yes to everything or no, the inventory won’t really work.

  15. NOTE: Your results will be saved automatically when you reach the results page. To add personal comments, click on the Save option. If you need to log off before rating all the activities, be sure and Save what you have completed. • Upon completion you will select your first and second highest scores to explore those careers (check out the others for fun, however). You can click on the category (Artistic, conventional, etc) and a wide range of possible careers are listed. Click on a career to learn more.
