What is: “The Civic Center Act?” State of California Education Code §38130- §38139 “There is a Civic Center at each and every public school District within the state where the citizens may engage in supervised recreational activities, and where they may meet and discuss any subjects and questions which pertain to the educational, political, economic, artistic, and moral interests of the citizens of the communities in which they reside.”

  6. CIVIC CENETER The Civic Center Office handles all request for facilities and rental of District facilities to outside organization as defined by Education Code and Board Policies. At no time should such use disturb or interfere with day and evening programs.

Civic Center Department Functions • The Civic Center’s job is to protect district property. • The Civic Center is the liaison between the school district and the community on facility usage. • The Civic Center helps strengthen the relationship between school district and the community. • Schedule the use of school facility and grounds. • Supervise the use of recreational activities (Via Security)

  17. PURCHASING(Departmental Responsibility) Purchasing- responsible for purchasing materials, services and supplies for the District. Warehouse- responsible for inventory control, shipping and receiving for the District. Document Services- provides service for all printing request (Office Depot) Mailroom – responsible for all District related U.S. mail, Express Mail and inter-office mail. Mailroom is also responsible for transcripts of former PUSD students.
