What we have done so far • Web-based learning material produced in co-operation with City of Helsinki Urban Facts and Helsinki Polytechnic • Discover Statistics - web-based learning material • Statistical Data Collection - web-based learning material • Learning material is used to support supervision of students’ theses and also teachers’ further education and own research work Heli Haapkylä

What we have done so far • 9 training conferences on statistics (around 30-50 teachers per course) • Focus on: • Statistical data collection • How to find statistical data • Statistical graphics • How to read & use statistics • Statistics on education • Statistics on population & health • Economic Statistics Heli Haapkylä

What we are going to do within the next 2 years • Web-based learning material on business statistics • Focus on entrepreneurship • Approaching the process of starting a business through statistics • Web-material will be produced in co-operation with the customers (polytechnics) and is based completely on their needs Heli Haapkylä

What we are going to do within the next 2 years • 8 training conferences on statistics (around 30-60 teachers per course) • Focus on general statistical methods, concepts, terms as well as business statistics • Discover Statistics - web-based learning material translated in to Swedish Heli Haapkylä

  11. EU-funding • VIRSTA 63% of total expenses • Partners needed • EU-money is paid around 6 months delay • Administration of the project is time consuming • Rules are very strict; if rules not followed No money Heli Haapkylä
