2. Planning and Cost: • Plan ahead of time. • Where are we going? • How much ? • Cost of bus? • Lunch? Bring it, eat on the way, or eat there. • Dress? Be sure to check the weather.

3. Permission: • Permission from the principal. • Permission from parents.

5. Volunteers: • Plan for one chaperone at least for every 4-5 students. • Have information for students prior to the field trip. Ex: If exhibit is on the Civil War, present or provide lessons/information on the Civil War before going on the trip.

10. Assessment: • Use of a KWL chart. • This will allow students to document what they already know and what they want to know prior to the field trip. • After the field trip, students will be able to document what they have learned.
