Learning Objectives • Understand the role of the service projects committee. • Select appropriate committee members.
In order to fulfil the mission of Rotary to help mankind, Service Projects must be implemented.

What is the role of the service projects committee? What are your responsibilities in this role?
Responsibilities • Develop committee goals to achieve club service project goals. • Conduct service projects that include needs assessments, planning and evaluation. • Lead fundraising efforts. • Understand potential liability issues.
What other duties does your club assign to the service projects committee?
Other Responsibilities Relate project to Avenues of Service. Assess the club’s condition and resources. Assess the club members’ interests and capabilities. Identify resources needed. Establish a timeline. Consult district leadership for guidance / resources.
Other Responsibilities Coordinate with other club committee / other RI program participants for assistance. Use RI / TRF resources. Practice good financial stewardship. Consider media mileage. Determine specific criteria for measuring progress.
Service projects . . . • Inspire and motivate members to do further service • Attract potential members interested in service • Increase member interest in club projects • Enhance the public image of Rotary
What guidelines should you follow when planning service projects for the year?
Service Project Guidelines • Relate projects to the Avenues of Service. • Address a genuine need. • Involve all club members. • Share ideas with other clubs. • Practice good financial stewardship.
Why is a needs assessment important to service projects?
Conduct aCommunity Needs Assessment . It is a way of gathering information about a community’s opinions, needs, challenges and assets used to determine which project/s will meet the REAL and PRESENT needs of the community.
