http://www.past-inc.org/historic-bridges/image-howetruss.htmlhttp://www.past-inc.org/historic-bridges/image-howetruss.html The Weddle bridge has the Howe Truss design. This Howe truss was designed by William Howe in 1840 this Howe truss design is used on bridges. Later on this Howe truss design was used on steel and metal bridges. This Howe truss design is very strong.
The Weddle bridge is located in Sweet Home. From interstate 5 at Albany exit US route 20 (exit 233) southeast through Lebanon to Sweet Home. From highway 20 turn south at 12th Avenue. Turn east on Kalmia Street and then south on 14th Avenue for two blocks. Sankey Park is on the left. Alternately exit Interstate 5 at exit 216 and travel east through Crawfordsville to Sweet Home.
http://www.oregon.com/covered_bridges/bridges/weddle.cfm The Weddle bridge was built in 1937. Originally the Weddle bridge stretched across Thomas creek. The Weddle bridge was lost for a time until some construction workers pulled it apart in 1980. The Weddle bridge became a safety issue so they rebuilt the Weddle bridge in 1989. That is why the Weddle bridge is standing in its current place, now in Sankey park in Sweet Home.
