Rules and Consequences Rules • Be on time and prepared. • Be respectful of teacher, students and property. • Try! • Raise your hand. Consequences Positive- • Praise, good note home, SOS, time in the fishbowl Negative • Warning, move seat, talk to one on one, call home, referral to office.
Tardies • video • You have to be in your seat with all your materials for the day in order to not be tardy. If you are in your seat but do not have a pencil, paper etc. you will be counted as tardy.
Starters • Almost every day at the beginning of class there will be a starter. A weeks worth of starters will be kept on one sheet and handed in at the end of class. These should not take you more than a couple of minutes to complete.
Handing in papers • Hand papers into inbox for correct period. Do not put papers in out box, they will not be graded. You must ask if you would like to take something out of the inbox
Table Leaders • Table leaders will be assigned each time we change seats. Table leaders have the following responsibilities: • Gathering supplies for their group • Handing in papers for their table • Making sure everyone has their name on their paper. • And anything else I ask them to do.
Late and Missing work • I do accept late work however there is a penalty. (refer to the school wide disclosure) • Late work needs to be handed into the late work basket • If you miss a day it is your responsibility to get your missing work. You can get it from my website (mrstexeirascience.weebly.com) or from the missing work folder in filing cabinets. • You have 5 school days once you return to turn in missing work without a penalty, after that it is considered late.
Leaving the classroom • If it is the end of the class period you must wait for me to excuse you, NOT the bell. • If it for pod mtgs, fire drills or assemblies you must line up at the back door in single file. • We will not leave until everyone is quiet.
Pod Meetings • One a week we have pod meetings. That means we will take the 1st 20 minutes class for me, Mr. Campbell and Mrs. Urquijo and have a meeting. • 1st meeting will be a pod meeting for pod business. • 2nd will be for literacy • 3rd will be DEAR
5 Second Rule • If the class is noisy and I need your attention I will count down from 5. If the class is not quiet by the time I get to 1 I will begin to time the class. If it takes another 15 seconds for everyone to be quiet then the class will stay after for 15 seconds to makeup for that time.
Hall Passes • You should receive a hall pass. You have 10 hall passes to use throughout all of your classes. A drink counts as a hall pass. You must fill out your planner then bring us your hall pass to sign.
TQW • TQW stands for total quality work. • If you hand in an assignment that I can tell you did not try on or it is written so poorly that I cannot read it I will return it to you and have you redo the assignment before I will grade it. • Just do your best the first time.
Headings on papers • If you have an assignment to turn in and there is not a place already designated for your name please write your name, date and period in the upper right hand corner. Name Date Period
Checking out textbooks • I do not assign a textbook to each student to take home. • If you would like to check out a text book please come and talk to me before or after class or school, or if we have a break during class. • Do not take a book off the shelves.
Getting out of your seat • If you are working on an assignment you need to stay in your seat. • You are not allowed to wander around the room unless I give you permission to do so.
Block Schedule • Mon – Wed are regular schedule. (all 7 classes) • Thurs you have 1-4 periods. Each class is longer than on mon-wed. • Fri you have periods 5-7.
