  2. Early life • Born in Hungary • Grew up in Nuremburg • Was the 2nd of 18 children/siblings • Father was a goldsmith • Mother was the daughter of Hieronymus Heifer • Brother of Hans Durer (also a painter) Albrecht Durer (1471- 1528)

  3. Experiences • Went to Venice in 1506 • Exchanged drawings with Raphael • Returned to Nuremberg until 1520 • Considered one of the first European landscape artists • Used water colors • Known for painting and wood carvings Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (wood carving)

  4. Major works • - Albrecht Durer was asked by the German community in Italy to make this for the church The Feast of Rose Garlands

  5. Major works • Oil painted canvas • In love with the idea of a perfect human form Adam & Eve (1507)
