  2. About Albrecht Durer • He was born in May of 1471 and died in April of 1528. He was a German painter, engraver, printmaker, mathematician, and theorist from Nuremburg. His high quality woodcuts and his paintings when he was in his early twenties, made him one of the greatest artists in the Northern Renaissance. He did numerous things such as altar pieces, wood carvings, religious works, paintings and self portraits. His magnificent watercolor paintings make him one of the first landscape artists of his time.
