Manhattan Landing – Recap • Facilitate an international interconnection facility started in NYC • Follow leadership of STAR TAP/StarLight, Pacific Wave, AmPath • Begun by Internet2; now partnership of Internet2, NYSERNet & Indiana University’s Global NOC • Carrier neutral, layer 2 exchange point • Independent of Abilene infrastructure; direct bilateral peerings between connected R&E nets • Abilene’s T640 NYC core router will connect with 10GE at MAN LAN’s 1st light • Existing 12008 connected to T640; not connect to MAN LAN
MAN LAN - Equipment • Initially based on Cisco 6513 • Frame only; mesh of vLANs • GigE & 10GE (LAN PHY) connections only • 16x1GigE installed • SX, LX/LH or ZX • 10GE added as required • LR or ER
