HB 342 • Prohibits using information regarding the accreditation of a secondary school located in NC as a factor affecting admissions, loans, scholarships, or other educational activity at the Public institution. . . • Authorizes the state board of education to accredit schools in a local school administrative unit at the request of and at the expense of that unit . . . • NC Legislation does not apply to private colleges & universities in NC (requirement is accreditation by a Regional Accrediting Association) • Accreditation is Voluntary through • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) • State Board of Education
