Some of My Research Interests Claude Turner, Ph.D.
Interests • Computer & Information Security • Tools: Wavelets, Neural Networks, Linear Prediction, etc. • Financial Computing (or Financial Engineering) • Traffic Engineering & Bandwidth Management
The Fourier Transform: Predecessor to the Wavelet Transform • The Fourier Transform (FT) provides a means of representing a function (information) with more elementary functions. • These elementary functions are the sine and cosine functions. • Through this concept it is possible to achieve compression: the representation of information in a more compact form.
Wavelets • The Wavelet Transform (WT) provides more flexibility than the FT. • It has a wide variety of elementary functions at its disposal to represent a function (or other information). • The WT enjoys application in a variety of areas: steganography, steganalysis, cryptography, image processing, etc. • We have used in it in Financial Engineering, Bandwidth Management, image processing, etc.
Computer & Information Security • Usability in Security Software • Steganography, Steganalysis & Wireless Sensor Networks • Voice Authentication (speaker recognition)
