What is the GPIDEA Group? • The Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GPIDEA) group currently consists of ten (10) universities • Most of the universities are Land Grant Universities, but that is not a necessary condition for membership • All the universities have Human Sciences Colleges and the GPIDEA group includes over sixty (60) team members

Accreditation • The individual degree programs will not be accredited. Accreditation bodies plan to examine the program support structure at each campus and extend the campus accreditation to include distance delivered programs (Steven D. Crow, Executive Director, The Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association) • Not only are institutions cooperating, accreditation bodies are cooperating since GPIDEA institutions are in several regions (S. D. Crow)
Direct Benefits to MSU • MSU is one of the leaders in building an inter-institutional distance education degree program (CGS currently working on INRA, CLTW) • MSU faculty and administrators are interacting with our peers from ten (and now more) large institutions • We are showcasing MSU talent on a national stage • Distance education programs allow MSU to become a “Super Land Grant” university, giving rural Montana citizens access to high quality, post graduate education • The GPIDEA work has produced a campus team with considerable experience in shaping distance education policies and procedures
