  10. ASSESSMENT WEIGHTING FOR P5-P6

  11. Arrangement for absentees during tests and examinations No make-up for tests or examinations for all written papers. Make-up for oral examinations at the designated date. Absentees must be supported by medical certificate.

  12. SUBJECT-BASED BANDING AT P5

  13. School’s policy for leave / absence from school during school term • Parents to write in to school for leave from school during school term. • Absence from school during term time is strongly discouraged.

  14. PSLE Matters

  15. PSLE – Placement Exam • Need to reflect the relative achievement level of pupils within their peers. • Places pupils into different courses according to their academic ability. • Enables posting to secondary schools by merit and as far as possible into a school of their choice.

  17. PSLE T-SCORE Transformed Score or T-Score A need for standardization of the raw scores in PSLE

  18. Calculation of PSLE T-Score T-score = 50 +10(x – m)/SD Where x is the pupil’s mark (raw score); m is the average mark scored by all the pupils who sat for the subject; SD is the standard deviation

  19. Example : 10 (80 – 68) 14 Pupil A’s marks (X) in English exam = 80 Average mark (m) scored by all pupils = 68 Spread of marks (SD) around the average mark (m) = 14 T = 50 + = 58.57

  22. SEC 1 POSTING EXERCISE Option Phase - November (After PSLE Results) - Choice of 6 Secondary Schools School Posting Phase • December Appeal - MOE will reject any appeal cases if the cut-off point of the Sec 1 intake is not met.

  25. PSLE – Absence of Candidate • If a candidate is unable to take the papers, a doctor’s medical certificate certifying that the child is unfit for examinations is required by SEAB. • Make-up for Oral Examinations at an external Examination Centre. • No make-up for all written papers.
