March 18, 2010 Why does Camp Fire USA sponsor this event? • Camp Fire USA wants to honor the hundreds of thousands of children involved in Camp Fire, and the millions who are not. • Our Goal is for EVERY child to receive at least one letter. Because we believe every child is incredible in his or her own right.

March 18, 2010 You should be thinking about who you can partner with now. • Partner with a local TV or Radio station, or the local newspaper. • Reach out to the elected officials for proclamations, letters and attendance at key events. • Local schools (public or private) or school systems • Local university fraternities and sororities, particularly Alpha Phi Omega and Gamma Phi Beta. • Businesses and Corporations

March 18, 2010 Create a Teen Project endorsed by the Youth Advisory Council (YAC). • Encourage older Camp Fire youth to create a project around AIKD. • Assign a council staff person to act as liaison and coordinator. • Teens can help recruit partners. • Teens can write their own letters to younger kids or siblings. • Teens can volunteer at schools or wherever events are held.

Some 2009 Council Success Stories. Camp Fire Adahi Council • Hosted its second annual AIKD/Birthday Party - free event for council families. • Honored the council’s youth and showed appreciation to the families. • Everyone received t-shirts and other Absolutely Incredible Kid Day merchandise. • Children had their photos taken to commemorate this day, and parents received stationery to write letters of love and affirmation to their child.. • Children wore their AIKD t-shirts and other merchandise to school on Thursday, March 19 for the AIKD.
Some 2009 Council Success Stories. Camp Fire Inland Northwest Council • Received proclamations from: • Spokane City Council • Spokane County Council • City of Spokane Valley. • Large birthday party at a local skating rink.

Camp Fire Alabama Council • Worked with a local elementary school using their in-school mail system to participate in AIKD. • Parents sent over 600 letters • Teachers sent over 200 letters • School is excited to participate next year, • Council hopes to find more schools with in-house mailing systems to participate in 2010.

Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma Council • Partnered with Incredible Pizza Company. • Also partnered with two Gamma Phi Beta chapters, that made goody bags and volunteered. • Writing stations set up at restaurants and balloons handed out to kids. • Drawing was held of items donated by local businesses.

Camp Fire USA Alaska Council • Children in after-school program all had AIKD t-shirts. • Written letters and AIKD stickers delivered to students in every class. • All school staff wore AIKD stickers. • Camp Fire USA signs in the windows of most schools. • The mayor declared an official Absolutely Incredible Kid Day.
Some 2009 Council Success Stories. Camp Fire Patuxent Area Council • 2,600 letters delivered from Alpha Phi Omegas, Gamma Phi Betas and community members. • Mascot of the Bowie Baysox helped deliver the letters. • Big press event.
Some 2009 Council Success Stories. Camp Fire River Bend Council • Held an AIKD party at school • Adults encouraged to come. Pizza lunch, crafts and activities. • Big inflatable toys for the kids. • Kids sent home with backpacks full of treats. • Parents sent home with stationery to write to kids.

Camp Fire Green Country Council ‘Incredible' day helps adults, kids connectBy SARA PLUMMER World Staff WriterPublished: 3/18/2009 2:25 AM In Tulsa, Thursday's Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is taken even further with activities and discounts at local businesses. The activities are open to all children, not just Camp Fire kids. It kicks off at Krispy Kreme, where children get a sticker that serves as a ticket to other locations that offer free or discounted activities such as the zoo, roller skating rink, bowling alley and several restaurants.
