Habits of Mind and Mindfulness Practice *Keys for Success* • Launching an Incentive Program to address key skills students need to be successful academically and socially.
Helpful Hints/Reminders Homework Agenda • Homework is copied daily and is on teacher websites. • Students should be reading 30 minutes each night and work on the assigned homework. • Make sure to practice each night to review the materials being assessed. • Don’t wait until the last minute.
Helpful Hints/Reminders Riker Hill Take-home Folder • Transports homework to and from school as well as any notices. • Folder placed in backpack immediately upon completion of homework
Helpful Hints/Reminders Study Area • proper lighting • quiet • spacious • contains all necessary tools Study guides are given for tests at least one week before test date.
Helpful Hints/Reminders Policy for Absences • It is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher for work missed when not in class. This includes an absence or leaving for band, GT, forensics, etc. • Check teacher websites for homework assignments. • Homework requests cannot be filled until 2:45pm.
Setting Goals and Having a Growth Mindset • 5th graders will be setting goals periodically working toward changing goals into a habit. • They will also be working towards having a growth mindset and believing they can achieve anything and work toward their highest potential.
