Highlight of Current Activities • Standardization about Home Networking (HN) in Japan • Now on 2nd stage of standardization • QoS, Data Model: Investigated several existing recommendations • Control and Operation: Standardized Home-network Topology Identifying Protocol (JJ-300.00) • Research: Applications realized in NGN • New SWG started to standardize the network middleware for the communication between access gateway and home terminals. • Plan to submit proposal to ITU-T SG15, SG16,etc. • Cooperation with the related SDOs and Fora • ITU-T, HGI, BB-Forum, DLNA, UPnP, etc. • Cooperation in Japan • New Generation Network Promotion Forum in Japan: • IP network WG: Research technical demands • HATS[1] in Japan • Tested NAT Traversal function between network and home equipment. Strategic Direction • Architectures and PHYhave been proposed by several bodies such as ITU and Fora. • But there are no consistent suite of Recommendations from WAN to HN dealing with the following items. • Maintenance (In case of the problems or failure has occurred) • Device setting • Device composition confirmation • There are many types of end terminal and network equipment. • For the management of home device, certain device lists will be required.

Challenges • Confirm interoperability of Control and Operation: Standardized Home-network Topology Identifying Protocol (JJ-300.00) • Standardization of device information list in HN • Standardization of JT-G9960 (Based on G.hn: G.9960) in Japan suitable forJapanese network environments. • Cooperation items with other standardizationbodies • Data models • Appliance device control (TV etc.)

  5. Next Steps/Actions • TTC will conduct the network middleware for the communication between access gateway and home terminals. • Examination and standardization of sharing of Interface to achieve service on service platform. • Service platform for several Applications. (DLNA, ECHONET…)
