Caution: Irreversible grade, has serious financial aid impact F : Failing grade, attends classes to the end, takes the final exam WU : Stop attending classes prior to the final exam week (including missing the final exam) I (incomplete): Passing grade, reasonable expectation that the student can pass, discretion of instructor. Incomplete Grades may be given by the instructor only when there is a reasonable expectation that a student can successfully complete the requirements of the course. This grade is a privilege and not a right. An “I” grade must be removed within one month after the beginning of the following semester, or the grade of “F” will be recorded.
Procedure for appealing a letter gradeA,B,C,D,F 2016 – 2017 Catalog page 30 • Student must attempt to resolve with the instructor. • Student must attempt to resolve with chair of the department. • Student fills out an appeal and submit to the Registrar. • The appeal is reviewed by the department’s appeal’s committee. • The committee’s decision is final. Procedure for Appealing Academic Dismissal Appeals are submitted to the Committee on Course and Standards.

Fall 2017 Enrollment • Enrollment in MAT 0650 has drastically decreased to less than half of previous fall • Enrollment of MAT 1175 has nearly doubled from previous fall. • Enrollment of MAT 1275/1375/1475 has decreased(Students do not perform well enough to be placed into higher credit level classes). 266sections (exclude City Poly, P-Tech, College Now) 8349students 37different courses
Graduation Data In 2016-2017, the Computer science program has 41 graduates (6 women 35 men), the Applied Mathematics program has 15 graduates, the Mathematics Education program has 11 graduates.
Faculty Accomplishments 2016 faculty scholarship report • Approximately 80% of math faculty reported scholarly activities • Documented approximately 200 activities, including (numbers are estimate) • 100 conference presentations/lectures • 30 peer-reviewed publications • numerous magazine/news articles • numerous conference organizations • 16 reviews/commentaries. • Math faculty are PI or co-PI on the following major institutional grants total more than $6.4 million dollars: Title V, MSEIP, S-STEM, Noyce, IUSE • Math faculty are PI on three Research grants • Math faculty were awarded the PSC/CUNY grants • City Tech math faculty have been active at the CUNY Graduate Center as the organizers and the participants of GC seminars and conferences, as well as the doctoral faculty.
2017-18 Goals and Targets • Applied Math • Complete program review • Increase enrollment, improve retention and graduation • Math Education • Complete CAEP self-study and program accreditation • Increase recruitment efforts, increase enrollment • Streamline program curriculum to improve retention and graduation • Computer Science • Increase recruitment of women • Increase retention and graduation • Applied Math, Math Education, Computer science to streamline program requirement and electives • Developmental Mathematics • Restructure and enhance course curriculum and policy to improve student learning and pass rates. • Continuing efforts in critical course assessment and propose intervention strategies • Continuing efforts to improve communication among instructors teaching the same course • course coordination • Course policy • Improve the student advisement and registration process, including correct placement of students into courses. • Increase the engagement of faculty (full-time and adjuncts) in OER and technology-based curriculum. • Increase the engagement of full time faculty in research and professional development.
