  1. WLTP-DTP-LabProcICE-184 Handling of wind tunnel + chassis dyno method for RLD Currently there is no golden standard for wind tunnel. Need to think how to handle these data for appropriate road load determination.

  2. Necessity of correlation data Wind tunnel & Chassis dyno. Coast Down. Lab. A Correlation data Lab. B Correlation data Lab. C Correlation data Each wind tunnel & chassis dyno shall have correlation data independently.

  3. Approval criteria to use wind tunnel & chassis dyno. Wind tunnel & Chassis dyno. Coast Down. Lab. A Correlation data If coast down data is used as ‘Basic official RL’ and wind tunnel & chassis dyno. data is used for ‘Corrected RL’, If wind tunnel & chassis dyno. data is used as ‘Official RL’. Need approval criteria. (wind tunnel itself, test result) Go next slide.

  4. With Road Load Family Road Load Group A Wind tunnel & Chassis dyno. Road Load A FC/CO2 Group A-1 Road Load A Correlation data Road Load A Road Load B Cd A of aero. parts Road Load C Correlation data FC/CO2 Group A-2 Correlation data Road Load D Road Load Group B Road Load E Cd A of aero. parts Road Load F Road Load Group C Road Load B,C,D,E,F and CdA may be defined by compensation from wind-tunnel/chassis dyno. data. Each Road Load Group shall have correlation data with wind tunnel & chassis dyno to use road load correction by wind tunnel & chassis dyno data.

  5. Background • Why each wind tunnel needs correlation data? • The test result is influenced with wind tunnel design. • The difference of each wind tunnel test result is not quantified at this moment, so it would cause some flexibility if the wind tunnel is used without correlation data. • That is why individual correlation data is necessary. • Why correlation data is necessary for each RL family? • The test result is also influenced with vehicle design. (e.g. distance between vehicle and wall of wind tunnel.) • Therefore criteria of vehicle style/size for RL family is necessary to avoid inaccurate correction by wind tunnel test data. • That is why vehicle body style/size is raised in the family concept document.
