What is baptism of the Holy Spirit? • Promise of the Father - Act 1.4, Jn14.16 • It is baptism of POWER for service - Luke 24.49, Acts 1.8 • It is subsequent to Salvation - Mark 16.15-17, John 7.37-39 • It is a requirement for every believer - John7.35-39 Acts 2.38-39 • Outward evidence - Acts 2.1-5 Acts 10.44-46

  3. How does one receive this baptism? • This experience is for only those who accepts and believe in Christ and not for unbelievers - Acts 2:38 • Acknowledge that the gift has already been given by God and willing to accept it - Acts 2:38-39

  4. How does one receive this baptism? Cont’d. • Believe, confess and expect to speak in tongues Roman 10.10. Luke 11.11-1d) Laying on of hands as a point of contact is helpful in receiving the gift - Acts 19:1-6 • During prayer, you must attempt and endeavor to speak in tongues, the heavenly language you have received out of faith and expressing your gratitude to God for giving you the gift

  5. Why every believer must endeavor to speak in tongues • Speaking in tongues is the initial and outward evidence of the baptism and permanent residence of the Holy Spirit in the believer. It is the key to keep and charge the Holy Spirit within. • Tongues is the initial sign of the Holy Spirit within - Acts 10.44-46

  6. Why every believer must endeavor to speak in tongues…Cont’d. • The believer edifies himself spiritually when speaking in tongues - 1 Corinthians 14:4 • Speaking in tongues gives the believer a direct communication line to God and is powerful in worship • - 1 Corinthians 14:2-15

Why every believer must endeavor to speak in tongues…Cont’d • It keeps prayers in line with God’s will as it only enables us to pray for what we should, including the unknown • Roman 8:26-27. 1 John 5:14-15 • It stimulates faith in the believer • Jude 20.1. Heb11.6 • It gives the believer the ability to pray longer than in a known language

  8. QUESTIONs • Some fast and pray but never receive it, why? • Do we always have to speak in tongues aloud? • When you pray in tongues for two hours hour do you know what you praying about
