Habitat for Humanity KoreaPart 1General Guidelines for Volunteering
Objectives of the Guidelines • The objective of the Guidelines is to provide international volunteers who live in Korea with the necessary information to be able to apply for domestic volunteering program of Habitat for Humanity Korea. Age Limitation • For safety reasons, volunteers over the age 16 is only accepted. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 19 will be accepted with an adult guardian. Volunteering Time • Must attend 8 hours a day • Daily work starts at 9 AM and ends at 6 PM. Daily Volunteer Schedule
Application Process • Application is accepted only through Habitat for Humanity Korea homepage. http://www.habitat.or.kr • Can not apply through email or telephone. This is to upload and manage data of each volunteer in the server. • If you want to change or cancel application, you need to ask volunteer coordinator(Jang Dae Hyun, dhjang@habitat.or.kr) at least aweek beforehand. Participation Fee • Participation fee is necessary to cover expenses of individual volunteers such as meals, water, insurance fee, and construction expendables. Participation fee is used for operating expenses which differentiates from donation use. • Need to deposit participation fee to volunteering Habitat affiliate after application is accepted. • Amount: Housing Repair KRW 20,000 • Housing Construction KRW 30,000
Recommendations (Dress Code) • Wear closed shoes • Wear comfortable clothing such as t-shirts, long sleeved shirts(for protection against insects and sunburn) and long, durable pants. • Abrasions, cuts and scratches are the most common injuries thus sleeveless shirts, shorts, sandals or open toed shoes are not acceptable at the construction site. • Wear a construction helmet which is provided by habitat at site. Sunglasses, sunscreen and towel are recommended for working in direct sunlight. Type of Work • Volunteers will be doing one of the work indicated below according to construction progress

Volunteer Application – Housing Construction Agreement on the fact that Habitat for Humanity Korea does not have responsibility on death, injury, and sickness during volunteering. However, all volunteers are obligated to sign insurance (covered by participation fee) which will compensate damages caused during volunteering.
