  10. Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Requirements 1. Earn 30 CREDITS • 18 compulsory • 12 optional credits • Pass the Ontario Literacy Test (OSSLT) • Complete 40 hours of Community Involvement

  11. Compulsory Credits • 4 English (1 credit per grade) • 3 Mathematics (at least 1 credit in grade 11 or 12) • 2 Science • 1 French • 1 Canadian Geography • 0.5 Civics and 0.5 Careers • 1 Canadian History • 1 Arts • 1 Health and Physical Education • Plus 3 Additional Compulsory Credits

  17. LOCALLY DEVELOPED Courses Focus on PRACTICAL applications and REINFORCE grade 6, 7 & 8 concepts to provide a strong foundation Lead to WORKPLACE preparation courses (or grade 9 applied courses) Offered in English, Mathematics & Science Designated with the letter “L”. ENG1 L L

  18. OPEN Courses Open courses are designed to prepare students for further study in certain subjects and to ENRICH their education. They are designated with the letter “O”. BTT1 O 1

  19. MODIFIED APPLIED Courses Applied courses with fewer expectations to make them less challenging. Designed for those students who need to enhance their KNOWLEDGE base or SKILL level. Offered in Geography and French Designated by the letters “PB”. CGC1 PB

  20. Course Codes ENG 1 P The 4th Character represents the Grade. 1=Grade 9. 2=Grade 10, etc. The 6th Character is Sometimes Used to Differentiate Between Courses First 3 Letters Relate to the subject (English) The 5th Character depicts the LEVEL of course. (Academic, Applied, etc.)

  34. Week of January 23rd, 2012 Guidance Counsellors visit the Gr. 8 Classes for course selection. Grade 8’s need to know their LOGIN.

  35. Mid-February, 2012 Verifications sheets will be sent home with Report Card. If parents wish to change a level of CORE courses, this is the time to do it!

  36. 1st week of May Gr. 8’s visit Innisdale and tour the school

  37. 3rd week of June Timetables delivered to schools. Any concerns can be directed to the Innisdale Guidance Office.
